Disturbing religious assembly. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023
Whoever voluntarily causes disturbance to any assembly lawfully engaged in the performance of religious worship, or religious ceremonies, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
Section 300 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 says that if someone intentionally causes a disturbance during a religious ceremony or worship, they can be punished. The punishment can be:
- Up to 1 year in prison, or
- A fine, or
- Both prison and fine.
This law is meant to protect religious gatherings from being disrupted.
