Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement

  • (1) This Act may be called the Specific Relief Act, 1963.
  • (2) It extends to the whole of India 1***.
  • (3) It shall come into force on such date2as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

  1. 1. The words “except the State of Jammu and Kashmir” omitted by Act 34 of 2019, s. 95 and 96 and the Fifth Schedule (w.e.f. 31-10-2019).
